I have ALWAYS known and felt that we are 70% water, the Planet is 70% water, we need to look after each other. I have been an activist all my life and I Long since dedicated myself to Gaia and to help Her as she Crys out for our prayers.
I know the POWER of intention, the POWER of visualisation. I see the waters run clear, the pollution cleaned up, the wildlife strong and vibrant and a flourishing, healthy ecosystem and biodiversity. I see people have respect for the Dolphins, Sharks and Whales, stopping the cruel and barbaic slaughtering. Where people fish, it is done is sustainable ways.
So VERY many of us take it for granted that we can turn on the tap and there is clean fresh water, Sooooooo many of us, tooooooo many of us don't have that Basic Luxury. I Feel the pollution of our planets waters and also the toxicity and pollution of our inner waters in our own sacred bodies - Both need attention.
I met the Incredible, Inspiring Anita Roddick back in 2004 when she brought out "Troubled Water – Saints, Sinners, Truths and Lies about the Global Water Crisis". To speak to her set me on Fire as she seeded me with her Passion. I was SHOCKED to my Core to discover what goes on. To see a water pump in Africa with padlocks on it as water is controlled, privatised and denied to people, I couldn’t get my head around that when all the images we normally see are charities Installing water pumps and happy smiling villagers.
These figures come from her book and it’s over 10 years old so I pretty much guess the numbers have changed quite a bit (Probably for the Worst although I will see what I can find out and see if there have actually been ANY improvements) but you get the flavour and the idea!!!
- Water covers 70% of the planet, 97% is undrinkable seawater, 2% is locked in the ice caps, 1 % is available for human use, over half of that is polluted!!!!
- In 2004, the figure of people worldwide who don’t have any water within 15 minute walk of their home was 1 BILLION.
- 25 Million people die each year from Contaminated water – equivalent to the population of Canada.
- Every 8 seconds a child dies from Contaminated water.
- It takes 50 glasses of water to produce 1 glass of orange juice.
- Americans empty 2.5 Million plastic water bottles an hour. Each one takes 500 years to decompose if not recycled.
- Dams have altered the speed of the earths rotation and the shape of its gravitational field.
- 28 Million indigenous people have been displaced by 840,000 dams worldwide
- The average amount of water used by 60,000 Thai villagers per day – 6,500 cubic meters. The average amount of water used by 1 golf course in Thailand per day – 6,500 cubic meters.
I have Always been drawn to help my rivers and oceans and all the sacred animals and beings but meeting this woman Galvanised my intention to see the waters clear and sparkling. I felt so far from where I could help and so often felt so powerless but it’s all the Little things that we can do as individuals, simply as turning off taps….
Then I met Dr Masaru Emoto and his stunning work with water helped me see the power of language in changing the structure of the water. His images of water crystals exposed to the words Love, Gratitude and Compassion are So very beautiful and this encouraged me to keep sending Sweet Healing Love to the waters.
Of Course I always Knew we are made of water but in sacred ceremony at a Labyrinth, it Really hit me physically the sacredness of Our waters, the Feminine waters, the Masculine waters and I now deeply Honour These.
22nd March is World Water day. I intend to do some ceremony work to honour and mark this. Anyone who wants to join in, you are More than welcome.
I encourage you to get over to http://unify.org/ and check out what’s going on there, there will be a live webcast from the sacred Ganges. There’s a whole bunch of charities and 1 that I support is http://www.wateraid.org/uk
I leave you today with this…….
Anishinaabekwe, the Daughter,
You are the keepers of the water,
I am nibi.. Water.. The sacred source
The blood of Aki, Mother Earth
The force filling dry seeds to great bursting,
I am the wombs cradle
I purify.
Nibi, the Life giver
Forever the Circle’s charge
I have coursed through our Mother’s Veins
Now hear my sorrow and my pain
In the rivers rush, the rain…
I am your grandchildren’s drink
Listen, Daughters, Always,
You are the keepers of the water.
Hear my cry,
For the springs flow darkly now
Through the heart of Aki.
